Requirements for a successful marriage. God’s blessing can be given only to:
* Those who have surrendered their life to Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour, those who are constantly abiding in Him.” John 15:5 “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
* Those pledge to obey God in all things. Deuteronomy 28:15 “But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee.”
How does one of the curses affect the marriage relation? Deuteronomy 28:30 “Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof.” Disobedience to God’s law in other areas of life is one of the major causes of infidelity and divorce today. On the other hand, what does obedience result in? John 13:17 “If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.” Those who agree together on these principles, on the principles of their religious life. Amos 3:3 “Can two walk together, except they be agreed? A couple when neither party is an unbeliever.” 2 Corinthians 6:14 “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”
Without these principles, the marriage is destined to shipwreck.
